Information You Provide
• Registration data: you can register or sign in by using your Google or Apple Account login details, giving Apple or Google permission to share with us: your Apple or Google login, a name (which you can edit), an email that will be linked to your Yiami account and used to retrieve it;
• Further registration data: name, surname, date of birth, gender;
• Profile content: interests, preferences, needs, icons, emojis, stickers;
• Communications: messages, reports, feedback, survey responses.

Information Collected Automatically
• Device and usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, app interactions.
• Location data: GPS or IP-based (only with your explicit consent).
• Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 7 (Cookies).

Information from Third Parties
• Data from analytics, verification, and advertising partners.
• Information shared by other users if they upload contacts.

With your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent, Yiami may collect and use location data from your device to enhance your experience on the Platform.

We use your approximate location (never your exact GPS coordinates) to:
- Show you nearby users, businesses, hubs, groups, and events that match your stated interests, preferences and/or proximity-based filters.
- Power location-based features that help foster real-life social interactions.

Important Notes on Location Privacy:
 

• Location sharing is entirely optional and disabled by default.

• You are always in control: you can enable, disable, or revoke location permissions anytime through both the app settings and your device settings.
• Yiami does not display or share your precise real time location unless you check-in to business page (Section 3.1 below)

• When you appear on the map or check in at a location, your presence is only visible to other users who have also chosen to share their location

• Yiami does not store or retain precise real-time location data; your location is temporarily processed and stored only as needed to provide real-time features.

• Location data is never used to create persistent movement profiles

• We take care to blur or generalize your location to a safe radius to prevent re-identification or targeting.

Yiami allows you to join local business pages—such as cafés, gyms, co-working spaces, universities, or other public venues. When you choose to join a business page, you are voluntarily sharing your presence in that specific place, and your profile becomes visible to other users ("Yiamiers") who are also nearby or have joined the same location.

This feature is entirely optional and designed to promote real-world interaction through proximity. To be localized in a specific place, you must actively click the “Join the place” button on that business page. Your presence is never shared automatically—it only occurs if and when you choose to join a place.

Legal Basis:

Your check-in is based on your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and can be revoked at any time by leaving the business page.

• Key Privacy Principles: Joining a place is a voluntary and manual action initiated by you.
• Your presence is visible only to users who have also joined the same place and enabled geolocation.
• Yiami does not automatically track, detect, or suggest locations—joining is entirely user-initiated.
• Business or place owners are anonymous and cannot view your identity unless you explicitly choose to disclose it.
• Sensitive locations (e.g., homes, hospitals, schools) are excluded from joinable areas.
• Users are anonymous by default and may not display their name, face, or profile photo until they initiate a chat with another Yiamier.

Retention:

Your joined locations are treated as user-generated content, and remain visible to others until you manually leave the place or delete your account. You can always manage your place history in your profile settings.

We may send you news, offers, and promotions:
• Only if you consent (opt-in).
• You can opt-out at any time via in-app settings or unsubscribe links.

Service Communications
We may send you important administrative communications relating to the functioning of Yiami, including security alerts, updates to the Terms of Service, or technical support notices. These communications are necessary and not subject to marketing consent.

Service Quality and Research
We may occasionally invite you to participate in user surveys or studies aimed at improving the quality of Yiami services. Participation is always voluntary, and any collected feedback may be anonymized for analysis and reporting purposes.

To operate our services and achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, Yiami may share your Personal Data with:

Internal Staff and Collaborators
• Employees and authorized contractors of Animic S.r.l., who have been specifically trained and designated as authorized personnel for data processing.
• These individuals only access the data necessary to perform their specific duties (e.g., customer support, security monitoring).

Third-Party Service Providers

We may engage trusted third-party companies ("Data Processors") to perform services on our behalf, such as:
• Hosting and cloud services
• Customer care and support
• Analytics and market research
• Communication and email distribution
• Payment processing
• App functionality and security services
These service providers process your Personal Data exclusively under our instructions and based on specific agreements that require them to maintain confidentiality and adopt appropriate technical and organizational security measures.

Business Partners
Where applicable, and only with your consent, we may share limited information with selected partners for co-branded promotions, event organization, or service integration.

In case of merger, acquisition, or asset sale (you'll be notified).

Public Authorities and Legal Compliance
We may disclose your Personal Data to public agencies, regulatory bodies, judicial authorities, or other legally authorized third parties when:
• Required by applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
• Necessary for the protection of our rights, your rights, or the safety of others.
• Required for managing legal claims, investigations, or audits.

Joint Controllers
If Yiami operates certain activities jointly with other entities (e.g., businesses, organizing events or partnerships), and those parties jointly determine the purposes and means of processing, they may act as Joint Controllers. In such cases, the key elements of the joint arrangements will be made available to you.

We do not sell your personal data.

Yiami processes your Personal Data primarily within the European Union (EU), where it is stored on secure servers.

In some cases, your data may be accessed or processed from countries outside the EU. We ensure that any international transfer of personal data complies with applicable data protection laws and offers an adequate level of protection by:
• Relying on adequacy decisions issued by the European Commission, where available.
• Using Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) approved by relevant authorities where necessary.

If there is no adequacy decision or other approved safeguard in place, data transfers will occur only:
• With your explicit consent; or
• Where necessary for the performance of a contract with you; or
• As otherwise permitted under the GDPR.

We also inform you that, although Animic S.r.l. applies common data protection practices across all countries where it operates, transfers to certain third countries may involve higher risks due to differences in local privacy laws. We remain committed to protecting your information wherever it is processed.

• We retain your information for as long as necessary for the purposes above.
• After account deletion, only minimal data (e.g., fraud prevention logs) may be retained where required.
• We implement technical and organizational measures to safeguard your information.
No platform can guarantee absolute security, but we do our best to protect your data.

Yiami uses cookies and similar technologies to:
• Remember your preferences.
• Analyze usage patterns.
• Deliver relevant content.
You can control cookies through your browser settings.

If you are an EU or California resident, you have rights to:
• Access the data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Object or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw consent at any time (marketing, location tracking).
• Data portability (receive your data in a structured format).

We may verify your identity before processing your request.

Yiami is intended for users aged 18 and over.
We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
If we learn we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

f you are a California resident, you have additional rights:
• Know what personal information we collect, use, and share.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Opt-out of "sale" of personal information (we don't sell personal data).
• Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
